Jump 101
Jump 101: The Art & Science of Getting Airborne
Adult Introductory Course | 4:1 Rider-to-Coach Ratio
Jumps on the trail can feel intimidating, high-consequence, and unpredictable. But getting two wheels off the ground shouldn’t rely on luck or "just sending it."
Jump 101 is designed specifically for beginners and riders who want to erase the fear of leaving the ground. By combining advanced, variable equipment with an intentional, supportive coaching methodology, we turn a high-consequence skill into a predictable, repeatable formula. No prior jumping experience required.
Our Methodology: Science Over Luck
We treat jumping as a controlled equation of posture, pressure, and energy transfer. In this course, you will learn to understand the "jumping spectrum" and how to manipulate variables to place your bike exactly where you want it. By breaking down the body mechanics and physics of flight before your wheels leave the ground, your brain understands the assignment first—allowing your body to relax and process the technique naturally.
Engineered for Comfort: Our Adjustable System
We don’t force you to adapt to a rigid trail feature. Instead, our custom-engineered portable training setup adapts entirely to your progression curve:
Micro-Adjustable Ramps: We begin the session with a small 2-foot ramp touching the landing pad. As your technique and comfort evolve, we can micro-adjust the height and launch geometry millimeter by millimeter. You only move up when you feel ready.
Forgiving Airbag Landings: Our premium, impact-absorbing airbags act as a zero-penalty laboratory. By completely removing the fear of casing or crashing, your nervous system stays calm, allowing you to focus 100% on proper body mechanics.
Dual-Modality Coaching
True skill acquisition requires a loop of action, observation, and adjustment. We bridge this gap using two distinct learning modalities:
Kinesthetic (Feel): Learn the exact timing of accelerating weight into your wheels to create predictable leverage.
Visual (See): Between your runs, you'll rest and review your positioning on a large, on-site TV screen featuring immediate slow-motion video playback. Seeing your form in real-time allows you to instantly map what a jump felt like against what it actually looked like.
What to Expect
High Repetition: Because our setup removes the grueling climb and the fear of falling, riders average 50 to 70 jumps per session.
Zero Pressure: No need to get into the air until you feel completely ready. We scale the experience to your exact comfort level.
Take-Home Tools: You’ll leave with soaring confidence, a foundational grasp of bike physics, and specific progressive drills to keep practicing on your local trails.
Gear Requirements: Half-shell helmet and knee pads are required. Hardtails, trail bikes, and E-bikes are all welcome!
(Note: If you are already comfortable on basic jumps and are looking for taller lips or larger gap progressions, check out our Jump 102 or Private Lesson options.)
